HISTORY
First Steps
With doyen industrialist Nuri Çomu’s rational and brave investments, the foundation for the Sunar Grup was laid by the establishment of the Sunar Cotton and Paddy Factories.
1974Sunar Özlem
Senior company of the Sunar Grup, Sunar Özlem, was established.
1976Sunar Mısır
Turkey’s most senior factory producing starch and its derivatives, Sunar Mısır, was founded.
1985Hüseyin Nuri ÇOMU
The Honorary Chairman Hüseyin Nuri Çomu, started actively working at the Sunar Grup after his graduation from the Boğaziçi University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
1987Elita Gıda, First Steps
The foundation of Elita Gıda was laid, initially starting the oil production unit up in Sunar Mısır facilities.
1990Sunar Özlem Feed Facility
The Sunar Özlem Yem began to operate.
1997NÇS Tarım
The group’s fresh fruit company NÇS Tarım was established.
2006Elita Gıda
Elita Gıda, the one of the few facilities in Turkey that can integratedly produce corn oil, sunflower oil and processing other oil seeds.
2006TGNA Outstanding Contribution Award
The “TGNA Outstanding Contribution Award” was given by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Nuri Çomu for the social responsibility projects that he carried out.
2007Sunar Grup
All of our companies were gathered under the roof of the Sunar Grup.
2008Sunar Pazarlama
Sunar Pazarlama was founded, being added to the group organization for the purpose of carrying out international marketing operations.
2010Elita Gıda On The ISO500 List
One of the Sunar Grup companies Elita Gıda ranked on the ICI 500 list, which lists Turkey’s industrial giants.
2010Exports
The $100 million threshold value passed with export, operations to 60 countries.
2011Elita Gıda Investments
Elita Gıda became one of Turkey’s three largest vegetable oil producers, increasing its refining capacity threefold.
2012Sorbitol Facility
Turkey’s first and only Sorbitol production facility was founded in the Sunar Mısır Integrated Facilities organization and started production.
2013Cogeneration Facility
Turkey’s largest, unlicensed 7.7 MW-capacity cogeneration facility was put into use for the purpose of meeting the electrical needs of the Sunar Grup companies.
2014Maltitol Facility
Turkey’s first and only Maltitol production facility was founded in the Sunar Mısır Integrated Facilities organization and started production.
2015Sustainable Sunflower Agriculture
Turkey’s First Sustainable Sunflower Agriculture was carried out by Elita Gıda.
2016SUNAR Received Turquality Certificate

Sunar Mısır R&D Center has been approved by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and honored with R&D Center Certificate in May 2018.
2018Cogeneration Plant Capacity Increase
The total capacity of Cogeneration Facility has been increased to 12.1 MW/h.
