Message from the Chairman

To Our Valued Shareholders,

Our group companies, which were established in 1974 has become a group of companies that exports to more than 100 companies and whose financial turnover has passed 2 billion TRY with the labor and reliance of our farmers, with the commitments of our shareholders, with our employees elbow grease, and with the kindness of our valued customers. I am especially presenting my thanks to your for this journey you have shared with us for almost half a century.

And as you know, the Turkish food sector is Türkiye’s second largest sector, and it is a crystal clear fact that it will be its largest sector within the next five years. Türkiye has a rather colorful geography in terms of its variety of food products, and especially Çukurova in the Mediterranean Region where our group of companies operates is one of the most fertile plains in the world, like the plains of California and Po. Combining this blessing as food producers with R&D and Innovation, we are aiding in the production of niche materials that we are in a position to import and that haven’t been produced before. And like this, we are increasing the accessibility of the products in our country, and we are decreasing our foreign trade deficit in food, exporting these value added services abroad. On the road of a new Türkiye, this is the duty that we primarily need to carry out as the food sector is to contribute to our government’s 2023 export goals under the title of “2023 Political Vision.”

The Sunar Investment operates in 5 different sectors with 6 different companies, and exports to more than 100 countries. Among these products, the final products that we sold on domestic and export markets and the semi-manufactured goods that we supplied to hundreds of sectors are current. While introducing the quality of Turkish goods to the world with our SUNAR-brand products, we contribute to the increase of the competitiveness and exports particularly of the food sector with our semi-manufactured products.

Another subject, as you know, the largest item that our country imports after oil are oil seeds. The approximately $3.6 billion yearly oil seed import of our country is current. This aspect is quite important for us because Elita Gıda, one of the companies of our group, is one of Türkiye’s largest vegetable oil producers. We have implemented our “Sunflower Rises in the East” project in this field since 2012 in the Eastern Region, in which a large portion of our country’s 4-5 million unused hectares of land are found. With this project, we have started sunflower production with agreed models of farming in Muş, Erzurum, and in our other provinces. If sunflower can be added to 25% of this land, Türkiye’s import position will move into an export position because of the increase in production space and, more importantly, the increase in yield thanks to sustainable agricultural practices. Sunar Investment is ready to provide support with sample projects to all members of the food sector that aim to decrease the imports and increase the exports of our country.

My call to all of our shareholders these days, where being in unity has more importance than ever before, is this: Don’t stand back from being at the side of our nation that lays claim to national will, from making investments, and from producing. Various attempts will never be able to affect Türkiye’s prodigious growth or its goal to be one of the world’s 10 strongest economies. Our duty is ongoing for the economy to remove flagrant attacks that take aim primarily at the growth of Türkiye’s developing economy. In the same sense, there is no reason to hesitate for business men who want to invest in the food industry in our country from abroad or who want to introduce quality Turkish food products with consumers in their own countries; incidents that create great destruction in the economy in another country have not created and will not create a lull in the strong Turkish economy.

With Our Warmest Greetings and Regards.
